Giles Deacon Fashion Designer Giles Deacon Biography
Only two years after launching his signature label Giles, British designer Giles Deacon has fine-tuned his vision of high craft mixed with a wonderful sense of wit. In his recent spring collection, he spun punk, goth, and S&M elements in eminently wearable cocktail dresses and statement gowns. He is rarely reverent when it comes to design—giant black feather-covered helmets—something retailers like Barneys, Selfridges, Harvey Nichols, and, most recently, Nordstrom appreciate.
Deacon is a graduate of Central Saint Martins. Now 36, he is an industry veteran, having worked at Bottega Veneta and Gucci, then under Tom Ford. A man of many talents, he has designed CD covers for former girlfriend Beth Orton, and today he designs a line of bags under the Mulberry banner with good friend Stuart Vevers. In 2006, he signed on with British retailer New Look.
